Dear Sir / Madam,
Please find enclosed the typeface made for the exhibition ‘Zak Kyes Working with …’ at Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig. As one of the contributors to the exhibition you are welcome to use this typeface as you wish. We hope that it will circulate beyond this exhibition in your future projects …
The typeface ‘Dear Sir / Madam,’ has been created specifically for the exhibition ‘Zak Kyes Working with …’ for object labels and wall texts. The typeface is inspired by classical alphabets that were used as guides for signwriters. In the time leading up to the exhibition, the typeface was sent to each contributor for their future use. As such the use of the typeface is free but limited to the group of collaborators in the exhibition. Through its availability to the exhibition’s participants, the typeface will continue to circulate within their various upcoming projects, thus extending the space and the duration of the exhibition.
Zak Kyes Working with … Can Altay, Charles Arsène-Henry, Shumon Basar, Richard Birkett, Andrew Blauvelt, Edward Bottoms, Wayne Daly, Jesko Fezer, Joseph Grigely, Nikolaus Hirsch, Maria Lind, Markus Miessen, Michel Müller, Radim Peško, Barbara Steiner – brings together a range of works by ZK, as well as new ones by a host of collaborators that includes architects, artists, writers, curators, editors and graphic designers, presenting contemporary graphic design as a practice that mediates, and is mediated by, its allied disciplines.
