Licensing


  • Fonts

    Digital Font is essentially a Software and licenses grant you limited rights to use the Font Software. All rights to the designs themselves remain the property of its authors.

    It is not permitted to modify (i.e. customize, generate web fonts, @font-face, etc.), adapt, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, alter or otherwise copy, source code of the fonts or their designs.

    Fonts must not be distributed, resold or sub-licensed to a third parties.


  • Licensing fonts

    Use of the fonts is defined by specific licenses that are governed by End User’s License Agreements (EULA). In general they are divided into three categories:

    • non-embedding: fonts are not embedded into final products (for example printed matter)
    • embedding: fonts require to be embedded into the digital medium (for example websites, apps, PDF, etc.)
    • broadcasting: fonts are part of work broadcasted or transmitted on the Internet (television, YouTube, Netflix and similar).

    Unless specified otherwise, all licenses are perpetual, non-exclusive and non-transferable.


  • Desktop License

    Desktop License entitles its holder to use the licensed fonts for desktop publishing (non embedding) purposes only. The use of the licensed fonts is limited to a specified number of computers.

    Note: If you intend to use licensed fonts for visual identities, as part of brand or product, contact us to secure suitable licensing.

  • Web License: Subscription

    Subscription License entitles its holder to use the licensed fonts on the web via our Web Font Subscription service. The use of the licensed fonts is restricted to a list of domain names specified by the licensee. Subscription License is designed for small to mid-scale websites, with up to 2,000 page-views per day. The service supports all modern web browsers on both desktop and mobile via the @font-face directive.

    The holder of the license receives a link to a CSS file containing a definition of the licensed fonts (to be placed in the HEAD tag of every web page) and instructions how to refer to the licensed fonts in a CSS stylesheet.

    Note: Subscription does not allow hosting the fonts on your servers, to use fonts in this way, Self-hosting License is required.

  • Web License: Self-hosting

    Self-hosting license entitles its holder to host the licensed web font files on his/her own web server. The use of the licensed fonts is restricted to a list of domain names specified by the licensee and number of web servers. The Self-hosting license is intended for high-traffic websites, giving their authors full control over the web fonts implementation and hosting. The holder of the license receives licensed fonts in WOFF and EOT formats, along with instructions how to install them on a server and implement in a website. (We also include OTF files for sketching purposes.)

    The provided font formats (WOFF and EOT) are supported by modern web browsers on both desktop and mobile.

  • Digital Media License

    Digital Media License entitles its holder to embed the licensed fonts as part of a software application (for example iPad/iPhone/Android) or a digital document (for example PDF). The use of the licensed fonts is limited to a specified number of distributed units.

  • Broadcasting License

    If you are using the Fonts in exhibition or display in cinemas, motion pictures, on television or on cable television, or as a part of any works broadcasted or transmitted on the Internet (YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Facebook, HBO, Netflix, or similar), Broadcasting Licence is required. Broadcasting License are only available for limited time, specified in the order.

  • Corporate License

    Purchase of Corporate License consisting of all 3 available licensing options (unlimited Desktop, Self-hosting, Digital Media) is eligible for 50% discount.


    Unlimited usage for Desktop, Web and Digital Media.


  • Third-party License

    The third-party license is a complementary license to Corporate License. It gives its holder the flexibility to extend the use of the licensed Fonts to its external partners for the purpose of fulfilling their contractual relationship. The external partners are bound by the same general licensing terms (EULA) as the main license holder, and are permitted to use the licensed Font Software only over the course of legal relationship between the main license holder and the external supplier.
